GHF II is the highlight of the New England eventing community. Amateur and Professional riders from around the world compete at this second weekend of eventing at Groton House. This year we bring two exciting new options to GHF-II competitors: Training/Novice Eventing division, and a Dressage Schooling division open to everyone!

GHF II is an important part of the United States Equestrian Team activities. In 1999, the GHF II event was used by both the American and Canadian teams as part of the selection process for the Pan American Games. As always, Groton House Farm Horse Trials has Free Admission. Parking is $7.00, the proceeds of which go to the Windrush Farm Therapeutic Riding Program. Parking is Free on Friday. Programs are $3 each.

Trophies

The James William Stamets Open Intermediate Memorial Trophy: Established and donated in 2002 by Mr. and Mrs. John R. Pingree in memory of Jim Stamets. Awarded to the winner of the Open Intermediate Division. $1000 prize money allocated through 4th place. 2008 Winner: Corrine Ashton, riding Dobbin. Corrine and Dobbin are no strangers to Groton House trophies, and this year they secured the lead in Dressage and kept it through to the end. Congratulations Corrine and Dobbin!

The Amanda Cup: A perpetual trophy in memory of Amanda Pirie Warrington, competitor and friend, given by Pauline Pollard. Winner's medal given by Mrs. Dierdre H. Pirie. $500 prize money for the winner offered by the American Horse Trials Foundation. Awarded to the winner of the Advanced Intermediate Division. 2006 Winner: Phillip Dutton and Tru Luck. This trophy was not awarded in 2008.

Volturno Trophy: In memory of Volturno, magnificent 3-day stallion. Donor: Meg Douglas-Hamilton. Awarded to the lowest Dressage score in the Advanced Intermediate Division horse in Dressage at Groton House Farm Horse Trials II. 2006 Winner: Darren Chiacchia and Windfall II. This trophy was not awarded in 2008.

Janet Read Memorial Trophy: In memory of Janet Read. Donor: Jiffy Read. Awarded to the rider and groom of the Intermediate horse with the lowest dressage score at Groton House Farm Horse Trials II. 2008 Winners: Corrine Ashton and her Groom, who helped prepare Dobbin for an amazing Dressage ride. Corrine and Dobbin had the best score of 32.7 after Dressage.

Windrush Farm Trophy II: In memory of Banjo. Donor: Windrush Farm. Awarded to the oldest horse to finish eighth or above at Groton House Farm Horse Trials II. 2008 Winner: 20-year old Fairycatcher, owned by Nancy Read and ridden by Annie Read. The team had an excellent showing in the Training Novice B division, earning the 6th place ribbon! Congratulations!

YOI Prize: Awarded to the lowest-scoring young rider in the Open Intermediate division. 2008 Winner: Emily Daigneault and Misty Vale Bacardi.
